Cancer is a disease that people know all to well. In Ireland the figures are staggering.

Every three minutes someone in Ireland Is diagnosed with cancer. Every hour someone dies from cancer.

These statistics are worrying and people have lost parents, grandparents, children, brothers and sisters and friends to cancer.

Marymount in Cork have always been praised for the help and care they give to families even though they are underfunded and themselves need all the help they can get.

Unity is always keen to support and promote any event that is in aid of such a worthy cause.

Sunday the 8th of October the Bickerstaffe family are organising the first annual Anthony Bickerstaffe Memorial 7 Iron Golf Tournament at Mahon Golf Club.

The tournament will consist of teams of 3 and all proceeds are going to Marymount Hospice, Curraheen, Cork.

Anthony who was a well known rings player in the northside of Cork City was also a great supporter of charities himself in his spare time.

Anthony’s son Gary who is organising the event with the Friars Walk Tavern Cork Rings, have collected spot prizes from well known businesses in the area and also have a sponsored trophy for the event.

Gary is seeking as much help as he can get with donations and prizes.
