Attack in Ballincollig cork leaves man seriously injured
An attack on a man in Ballincollig, Co. Cork has left him with serious life threatening injuries.
The man accompanied by two other men were confronted by a group armed with knives, bats and slash hooks.
The altercation took place in Castle park housing estate less than 1km from the town centre roughly 9pm Tuesday night.
The man believed to be Eastern European suffered serious blunt force trauma and stab wounds while the other two men also believed to be of East European origin also only suffered minor injuries.
The armed group then fled the area before the gardaí arrived minutes later.
The seriously injured man was rushed to Cork University Hospital where he is expected to undergo emergency surgery for his injuries.
The scene was sealed off and a full examination is expected by the technical bureau experts.
Gardaí have already begun door to door enquiries and will be looking into options of reviewing CCTV from businesses in the local area to see if the armed group were captured fleeing.
Gardaí are also appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
