Grattan United A.F.C. one of cork’s biggest Clubs and the oldest club in the Cork AUL League is having its Second Annual Footgolf Classic Tournament in Aid of Marymount Hospice
on the 11th of June 2017 at Foot Golf Cork, Ringenane, Kinsale, Co.Cork.
What is so special about a Club from the Northside of Cork City having a game of footgolf on a Sunday morning? Well what started as a once off in May 2016 with the Grattan United B Team, this year 2017 its special and is in Aid of something every 2 in 3 people have been affected by directly or someone they know has. Once mentioned to the B Team players to hold it in Aid of Marymount Hospice all the player without hesitation got involved and as a team rallied to get it up and running. Once word spread within the Club all players from the A Team and committee and volunteers were quick to offer there support.

The overwhelming support already from local communities, other sports clubs and local businesses all supporting what is an outstanding cause.
Organiser Comments:
“Philip Moore,
This Tournament is close to mine and my families hearts especially after my own Mothers passing last year. My Family and I were amazed by the level of care and support she received by everyone in Marymount. That was my drive for organising this charity event.”
“Graham Waters,
The event is in Aid of a great cause, there are so many families affected by it even within my own family that the funding they receive is never enough. Anything that can be done to help the support Marymount provide always makes it easier for families in there time of need.”
“Tony O’ Brien,
My involvement in organising this tournament is also like so many close to my own heart. Alan O’ Brien (also a beloved member and player of Grattan United who will be forever fondly remembered ) my late son passed away under the tender care of Marymount last year. I made the decision immediately to sponsor the trophy for the event to be named ‘The Alan O’ Brien memorial trophy’ in his memory.”
The holes 1-18 were up for sponsor with a name of a loved one for €100 each and sold out within a matter of days.
“Myself ( Brian O’Súilleabháin of Unity Media ) bought hole number 18 in Aid of my own late Mother Teresa O’Sullivan who passed from cancer. I Could not think of €100 better spent “
Also Sponsor cards are in circulation in local areas so all donations would be greatly appreciated.
The club and the charity are now seeking help in the form of prize donations for a raffle to further increase the final sum to be spent on the care and respite at Marymount Hospice Cork.
