Young cork girl hospitalised in Thailand

A Young Cork girl Ciara Twomey is recovering in a Thai hospital after suffering serious injuries in a freak quad bike accident.

Ciara Twomey currently has no sight in her left eye, according to her brother as family travel to Thailand

Ciara a general nursing student from Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT) was enjoying a holiday with friends in Thailand when the freak accident occurred.

Ciara had to undergo emergency surgery to her eye, and is now being treated in a Thai hospital but her friends are determined to help get her transferred back to Ireland. Her friends also pointed out that Ciara will require further treatment and reconstructive surgery.

A special fundraising appeal has been launched for Ciara Twomey (22) from Bantry, Co Cork who was badly injured in the quad accident, A Fundandseek page has been launched and it has already raised more than €22,000.

More than 450 people have donated to support the appeal.
